Job Description12

-       Preliminary Investigation through the gathering and analyzing of all information relevant to uncovering GST fraud from information and accounts submitted by GST businesses, and other information available from IRAS databases, other government agencies and the public domain, and recommending if a full investigation should be launched.

-       Full Investigation by planning, preparing and successfully executing field operations which involve searching and seizing documents from taxpayers premises and residence, eliciting taxpayer cooperation and preparing submissions to the Comptroller of GST and to the Attorney-General's Chambers for sanction of prosecution for GST fraud

-       Dealing with legal counsels and tax agents representing the GST traders, and compound an offence under the GST Act and regulations

-       Prosecution by prepare documents for court hearings as well as to appear as complainant or expert witness in court

Job Description21

 

Conduct investigations of suspected violations of Singapore Tax Laws by gathering the necessary information in order to assist in penalizing or prosecuting tax evaders. This includes-

-       Plan and conduct search operations to seize and secure evidence

-       Plan and conduct surveillance operations, which may require irregular working hours

-       Liaise  with external parties, legal counsel and tax agents in the process of gathering information

-       Request for information from tax treaty partners via the Exchange of Information channel

-       Plan and conduct interviews of taxpayers, witnesses and complainants to obtain information relevant to the tax investigation

-       Analyze complex records, both on paper and in electronic format, to determine if a tax crime has been committed. If a crime is found, investigators will use the data to "follow the money" to ensure they have identified all parties involved with the criminal activity

-       Prepare reports to recommend penal actions to be taken on non-compliant taxpayers

-       Act as the complainant to prosecute tax evaders in court and testify in court as an expert witness for the State

-       Undertake tax recovery through payment and collection of under-declared taxes and penalties from tax evaders

Job Description22

-       To assist Singapore’s Avoidance of Double Taxation Treaty Partners through the gathering of requested information. This includes dealing with external parties, legal counsel and tax agents in the process of gathering information

-       To review and assess that the requests for information by foreign tax authorities are in compliance with Singapore Exchange Of Information policies; and if not, to clarify with the requesting tax authorities

-       Communicate and network with foreign treaty partners on information exchange matters and to maintain relationships

-       Represent IRAS in making requests for information to foreign tax jurisdictions to obtain information for

-       Singapore tax purposes

-       Research on the tax practices of foreign jurisdictions, especially with regard to information gathering

Job Description27

-       Responsible for frontline duties to attend to taxpayers’ general and technical enquiries on Individual Income Tax (Singaporean and Foreign Employees), Business Income Tax (self-employed and partnerships), Tax Clearance, Property Tax and TV license fee via phone and interviews, with the objective of providing quality taxpayer service and assistance to taxpayer on clarification of tax practices, application of tax laws and assessments.

 

Job Requirements27

Job Description28

-       Assist in preparing transfer pricing cases for Advance Pricing Arrangements (APA) and Mutual agreement procedure (MAP) negotiations

-       Detailed studying (doing background research on the issue, compiling and analysing statistics on tax revenue involved) and carrying out of discussions with the relevant agencies and MOF on tax treaty negotiating strategies, drafting of the tax treaty provisions, and administration of the various DTAs

-       Attend to members from the public and officers of other branches on queries pertaining to the interpretation of Agreements for avoidance of Double Taxation and tax systems of other countries

-       May also be assigned responsibilities in managing IRAS' engagement with other tax administrations, IRAS' involvement with regional and international tax organizations and IRAS' participation in international tax forum

 

Job Requirements28

-       Degree in Economics, Business Studies, Accounting, Law, Social Sciences or International Relations

-       Must have had practical exposure in the tax areas for a minimum of 4 years gained in large commercial or public accountancy firms (as a tax consultant)

-       Good, thorough and detailed knowledge of the various Acts administered by the IRAS, relevant legislation and statutes

-       Good understanding of the provisions of the double taxation agreements

-       Informed and abreast of developments in financial, economic and tax matters both locally and internationally

-       Carrying out discussions with the relevant agencies and MOF on the implications of the new proposal, drafting of the tax law

-       Administering the various tax incentives implemented

-       Attend to members from the public and officers of other branches on queries pertaining to the interpretation of the Income Tax Act and other tax legislations

Temporary Clerical Officer30

Front-line

You will be responsible for attending general enquires on income tax matters. In addition, you may be required to perform simple administrative duties, such as filing and other clerical duties. For this job, you should enjoy interacting with people and possess good oral communication skills. Having a good temperament and patience would be useful for this position.

'O' levels and 'A' levels preferred. Training will be provided by IRAS.

 You will be responsible for performing administrative duties for branch and your main job responsibilities will include data entry, retrieval of information, tracking of file movements and document control. In
addition to the above, you may be required to attend to some general enquires.

Data-entry

You should be meticulous and attentive to details. Knowledge in Software would be useful to the job. 'O' levels and 'A' levels preferred. Training will be provided by IRAS.
