Individuals (For locals)

Things you need to attend to after a loved one passes away include filing income tax, estate duty and trust income tax etc. You may follow the guidelines below to settle tax matters for the deceased.

You may also visit the e-citizen website to find out other information on what to do when a loved one passed away .


Filing income tax

The deceased's income up to that date of death is subject to income tax.

You need to provide us with the following details:

  • Name, address and identification number of the legal personal representative who is handling the affairs of the deceased.
  • Copy of the deceased's death certificate.
  • Income details from ALL sources, up to the date of death (please specify breakdown for each type).

Filing estate duty

Estate duty is the tax payable on the total market value of the deceased's assets as on the date of death.
