We refer to the letter “几经折腾的电子报税”(20 Apr 2012) by 郭茗基, where Mr Guo had shared his recent experience of e-Filing via myTax Portal.

Before the start of the tax filing season each year, we perform extensive browser compatibility testing and ensure that the e-Filing system caters to the more commonly used web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Safari. We also update our website and myTax Portal with a listing of the compatible browsers. However, to facilitate a smooth tax filing experience for taxpayers, we are not able to cater to any new browser version after we switch on system on 1 Mar.

We did not cater for the latest Safari browser version 5.1.4 as it was launched in the market on 12 Mar. Nevertheless, we had updated our website and myTax Portal to inform Safari users to consider using alternative browsers to access myTax Portal.

We regret the inconvenience caused to Mr Guo and other taxpayers with similar experiences. We would like to assure all taxpayers that we will continue to update our systems yearly so that they remain compatible with new versions of commonly used browsers. We thank Mr Guo for his feedback. We are happy to know that Mr Guo was pleased with the service provided by our officers, and like many taxpayers, he had found our filing process simple.
