Tax Made Simple; Business Made Stronger: New Digital Resources to Ease Corporate Income Tax Filing in 2026
- Over 323,000 companies to file their Corporate Income Tax (CIT) Returns for Year of Assessment (YA) 2026 by 30 November
- New and enhanced digital tools to provide greater clarity and support at every stage of the tax journey
More than 323,000 companies, including over 37,000 newly incorporated companies (NICs), will benefit from an expanded and enhanced suite of digital self-help resources when filing their CIT Returns for YA 2026.
IRAS recognises that clear and seamless tax processes are important for companies to reduce the administrative effort of tax filing, allowing companies to focus more time on running and growing their business. Existing efforts to simplify tax filing have seen strong take-up. In YA 2025, about 8 in 10 eligible companies used Form C-S (Lite), a simplified tax return that reduces filing requirements from three pages to just six essential fields for companies with straightforward tax matters and annual revenue of $200,000 or below.
This year, IRAS has introduced new and enhanced digital resources to make it simpler for companies to file their returns accurately and on time, with greater certainty and fewer follow-up actions, ahead of the 30 November filing deadline.
Pre-filing
- New! Filing Obligations Checker for NICs on IRAS Chatbot – Tells NICs whether and when they need to file a CIT Return, reducing the risk of inadvertent non-compliance and giving assurance to businesses that are new to the tax system.
- Request for Income Tax Return for NICs – Most NICs close their first set of accounts in the second year of incorporation and will be automatically issued tax returns. For the minority of NICs that close their first set of accounts in the year of incorporation, we have simplified the process for them to request their first CIT Returns. These NICs can simply complete a guided online form to provide the required information, supporting quicker processing.
- New! Record Keeping Assistant – Helps companies keep and organise their business records for tax preparation in a single file, making record-keeping easier while reducing preparation time and the risk of errors.
During filing
- New! e-Learning Webinar Series – Enables companies to better understand their CIT filing obligations and requirements through self-paced, step-by-step guidance, helping them prepare to file with confidence.
- New! Business Expense Deductibility Checker – Helps companies determine whether their business expenses are tax deductible, providing greater clarity and confidence when preparing their tax computations.
- Basic Tax Calculator – Guides companies through the preparation of tax computation and schedules, with explanatory notes and validation checks to help reduce errors.
- New! myTax Portal Troubleshooting Assistant for CIT – Provides step-by-step assistance on common myTax Portal login and access matters, helping companies resolve such matters promptly and reducing delays in completing their CIT filing.
Post-filing
- New! Payment Status Checker – Allows companies to check the expected processing timelines, their payment status, and any next steps required.
- Digital Submission for Revisions / Objections on myTax Portal – A one-stop service for companies to submit revised tax returns and objections to CIT assessments, supporting faster resolution of tax matters. Companies are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the digital service before its mandatory use from 1 July 2027.
- New! Objection Status Checker on IRAS Chatbot – Gives companies greater visibility over their objection status, expected processing timelines and any follow-up action required, without needing to contact IRAS.
Members of the Singapore Business Federation shared how these enhancements have helped them better understand their tax obligations and handle tax matters with greater confidence and ease.

IRAS Takes Firm Action Against Non-Compliant Companies
In YA 2025, more than 90% of companies filed their CIT Returns on time, reflecting the strong compliance culture among Singapore's businesses. Timely filing ensures that everyone pays their fair share of taxes, providing essential funding for Singapore’s public services and infrastructure.
While most corporate taxpayers are compliant, IRAS takes firm action against the minority of errant companies. Since January 2026, IRAS has issued more than 4,100 Notices to Attend Court to companies that failed to file their CIT Returns for YA 2025 and prior YAs, amounting to more than $2 million in total penalties collected.
Companies that do not file their CIT Returns by the due date can be fined up to $5,000. Continued non-compliance may also result in additional daily penalties of $100. Companies that repeatedly fail to file their tax returns for two years or more can expect progressively stronger enforcement action and may be ordered by the Courts to pay a penalty twice the amount of tax assessed, in addition to the fine.
Directors are reminded that they are responsible for accurate and on-time filing of their companies' CIT Returns. They are encouraged to visit go.gov.sg/companiestaxfiling for more information on CIT filing matters.
