IRAS Unique Account for Foreign Individuals (Who are ineligible for SingPass)


The IRAS Unique Account allows users to access e-Services (e.g. e-Filing) for personal tax matters at myTax Portal. It is issued by SingPass system and can only be used for accessing IRAS' e-Services. All users will require Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) via the SingPass Mobile App, to log in to myTax Portal. The SingPass Mobile app is a mode of 2FA that allows log in using fingerprint or a 6-digit passcode.


The IRAS Unique Account is for individual taxpayers who are ineligible for SingPass to access IRAS’ e-Services at myTax Portal.

You do not need to register for an IRAS Unique Account if you are eligible for SingPass.

SingPass is a common digital identity which allows users to access IRAS' e-Services and other Singapore Government portals.

SingPass eligibility

All Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, Passholders* and selected Work Permit holders^ are eligible for SingPass.

* Passholders:

      -  Employment Pass (EP) and Personalised Employment Pass (PEP)

      -  EntrePass

      -  S-Pass

      -  Long Term Visit Pass and Long Term Visit Pass-Plus

      -  Dependant Pass (of EP, PEP, EntrePass and S-Pass)

If you are eligible for SingPass, register for an account at www.singpass.gov.sg.

If you wish to access corporate digital services for your business or clients, please use a CorpPass account. You do not need an IRAS Unique Account.


Step 1: Register for IRAS Unique Account by submitting this form

Once submitted:

  • An assigned Tax Reference Number will be sent to you by email within 5 working days.

  • A PIN mailer issued by SingPass will be mailed to your address within 4 working days (for Singapore addresses). If you have provided a non-Singapore address, the PIN mailer may take 2 to 4 weeks to reach you.

    Step 2: Activate your IRAS Unique account and set up 2FA

    To activate your account and set up your 2FA, ensure that you have your Tax Reference Number and SingPass PIN mailer.

Step 1: Download SingPass Mobile
Step 2: For SingPass ID, enter your Tax Reference No. and the one-time password (shown in PIN mailer)
Step 3: Create your own password. Select ‘Proceed’ and proceed with your 2FA setup.
Check that the developer is ‘Government Technology Agency’ before downloading the app.



    Set up 2FA (SingPass Mobile)
Step 1: Create your own 6-digit passcode for you to verify your identity during login.
Step 2: Re-enter your passcode to confirm.
Step 3: Enable Touch ID / Fingerprint Authentication to log in more easily.


    Step 3: Log in to myTax Portal


    Login to myTax Portal
Step 1: Visit mytax.iras.gov.sg
Step 2: Tap/ click to reveal QR code
Mobile device
-Tap the QR code to launch the SingPass Mobile app
Or 
Laptop/ Desktop
-Scan the QR code using your SingPass Mobile app
Step 3: Confirm your login request, and use your fingerprint or enter your 6-digit passcode.


    Reset IRAS Unique Account password

    If you did not receive (or have misplaced) the SingPass mailer:

    1. Visit www.singpass.gov.sg
    2. Click on Reset Password 

    3. For your SingPass ID, (shown as “NRIC or FIN number” on-screen, enter your Tax Reference Number (e.g. A2500123A).
    4. For the Date of Issue field, enter your Date of Birth 
    5. If your address maintained with IRAS is:

      • A Singapore address: enter your postal code
      • An overseas address: enter your passport number 
    6. A new one-time password will be mailed to your address within 4 working days (for Singapore addresses). If you have provided a non-Singapore address, the PIN mailer may take 2 to 4 weeks to reach you.
