Validation and Submission Application

It allows employers with supporting payroll software which creates files that comply with IRAS’ Technical File Format/Specifications to validate and generate an encrypted file for submission.

Employers may refer to List of Supporting Payroll Software Vendors to check if their payroll software supports the submission.

When selecting the payroll software, employers should also evaluate the controls that they have.

    Application Programming Interface (API) Service

This is a web-based API service that enables payroll software systems to integrate directly with IRAS’ server.

Employers can validate and submit employment income information directly to IRAS using their payroll software. This makes the submission process easier for employers as they no longer need to download and install the Validation and Submission Application for their submission.

Employers may refer to the List of Supporting Payroll Software Vendors to find out which vendors’ payroll software can support API submission.

    • How do I update the Validation and Submission Application / Offline Application to the latest version?

Always connect to the Internet when launching the AIS software. If there is an updated version, there will be a message to inform you to update. Follow the instructions and accept all updates.

Alternatively, you can uninstall (616 KB) the existing version in your computer before downloading the latest version from IRAS’ website.
    • Will other authorised staff or third party be able to see my submitted records at myTax Portal?

Details of the records submitted using the Validation and Submission Application / Offline Application will not be displayed at myTax Portal. Only the submission date and time will be shown.

For records submitted using the Submit Employment Income Records at myTax Portal (Online Application), only authorised staff or third party will be able to view the details. If you do not want other authorised persons to see the records submitted by you, please use the Offline Application to prepare and submit the records.

    • Some fields in myTax Portal under Submit Employment Income Records (Online Application) / Offline Application do not accept decimals.

For fields that do not accept decimals:

      1. Round-down to the nearest dollar for income fields (e.g. Salary, Bonus, Director's Fees, etc.); and
      2. Round-up to the nearest dollar for deduction fields (e.g. Employees compulsory CPF contribution, Donations, etc.).
    • What is the maximum number of records I can enter in the Submit Employment Income Records at myTax Portal (Online Application)?

You can enter up to 200 records per submission.

If you have more than 200 records to submit, you can do more than one submission, with each submission limited to 200 records only.

    • There is a '.bak' and '.working' file in the same folder where I saved my Profile in the Offline Application. What are these files?

The '.working' file (e.g. 'Test1.profile.working') is a temporary file created by the Offline Application when you open your Profile. This file is deleted when your Profile is closed.

The '.Bak' file (e.g. 'Backup_of_Test1.bak') is a backup of your Profile. You may use the file to retrieve the data that you have prepared should your Profile become corrupted. Please do not delete the backup file.

    • What should I do if I encounter a page error in myTax Portal during submission?

Only employees or third party authorised as an ‘Approver’ are able to submit the income information to IRAS via myTax Portal.

You can authorise yourself, an employee or a third party as an ‘Approver’ via the e-Services Authorisation System (EASY). For details on the steps, refer to s User Guide to complete the authorisation (759 KB).
